“ORAC”
stands for “Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity.”
Oxygen radicals, or free radicals, are cell byproducts that can cause
substantial damage to your health. They are highly reactive molecules,
which means that free radicals can damage cellular structures if they
get out of control. This is one of the reasons why doctors and nutritionists
recommend you eat a good amount of fruits and vegetables each day.
Some studies suggest that eating plenty of foods with high ORAC values
may help slow the processes associated with aging! These foods contain
antioxidants, which scavenge free radicals and support better overall
health.

Our
bodies are made up of trillions
of cells. Antioxidants are a family of natural compounds
that assist your body in protecting these cells from the damaging
effects of free radicals. Many of the basic essential nutrients, such
as vitamin E, work as antioxidants. The bad news is that there are
many factors that can increase our free radical burden to the point
where our natural defenses aren’t enough.
As we age, our antioxidant defenses begin to slow down.
Pollution, illness and other stresses on the body can also increase
free radical activity in our bodies. For this reason, it is vital
for us to nourish our body with additional foods and supplements containing
antioxidants.
ORAC
is a measurement of total antioxidant power of foods.
Green Tea Plus™ has an
ORAC value of 7,800 units per serving! That means
that one serving of Green Tea Plus™ will give you approximately
the same antioxidant protection found in seventy pears!
The
antioxidant power in Green Tea Plus™ comes from it’s massive
polyphenol content. Polyphenols are natural compounds that are abundantly
distributed in the plant kingdom, and they come in many different
types. The type found in green tea, known as flavonoids, has gotten
much recognition by scientists because of their nutritional value.
These polyphenols are shown in studies to provide nutritional support
to help you body fight free radicals, which means they can protect
the body from oxidative damage. Green Tea Plus™ has up to six
times the polyphenols of normal green tea.
The
flavonoids in green tea contain a substance called catechins. These
catechins have been shown in studies to neutralize an especially potent
class of free radicals called peroxides.
In
the Far East, drinking green tea is a centuries old tradition. The
people who enjoy the rich benefits of green tea do so by drinking
up to ten cups a day! Because it contains 90% polyphenols,
Green Tea Plus™ makes it easy to get the benefits of green tea
in a concentrated, standardized dose.
